Milk Street:Cooking 101
 

At Milk Street they think great cooking is all about contrast. Sweet+Sour. Bitter+Salty. Crunchy+Smooth. Contrast make food exciting. The Milk Street approach to cooking also emphasizes simplicity and respect for ingredients with bold flavors. In this hands-on class, we'll explore these three concepts-- contrast, simplicity and bold flavor-- with some of our favorite recipes, including Orange-Gaujillo Pulled Chicken Tacos, Chili-Lime Melon Salad and Sweet Potato Cake. Introduction to Cake Decorating - Buttercream
 

Have you ever wanted to learn to use a piping bag? Have you ever wanted to learn to layer a cake? Well you're in luck! Join Chef Shanna Avila from Crumbs and Crumbles for a class all about cake decorating. You will learn to slice a cake, fill it, and coat it. You will also learn some piping techniques and how to use a piping bag and different tips. You will go home with a small cake to show your friends and family!  A small 6 inch cake will be provided for each student.  If you have your own piping tips, cake turntable, or other cake decorating supplies, you are encouraged to bring them.

What to Expect: This style of class allows you to be as involved in the cooking process as you would like. You are treated as the chef/instructor's assistant. Each menu is structured to accommodate some food preparation by the students. Many of the recipes will already have some ingredients prepared. This style allows you to mingle a bit more and interact with other students. Most of Nibblins cooking classes fall under this style.

• Class is designed for students 16 years or over.
• Class will run about 2 hours in length unless otherwise noted.
• Students will be standing for a significant portion of class. Closed toed and comfortable shoes are recommended. Long hair should be pulled back.

Sugar Cookies
 

Class Description: In this interactive demonstration class you will learn from Chef Shanna Avila and Dakota Carden of Crumbs & Crumbles. They will walk you through the process of making a basic sugar cookie. You'll learn to roll and cut it as well as proper baking. You'll also learn to make royal icing and how to ice the cookies.

Advanced Macarons
 

Class Description: Join Pastry Chef Shanna Avila and Dakota Carden of Crumbs & Crumbles bakery for a hands-on class for advanced macaron techniques.  This class is designed for students that have already taken the Marvelous Macarons class.  In this 3 1/2  hour class, you will learn the Italian meringue method for making macaron.  You’ll learn to add multiple colors to one batch and how to pipe shapes other than the standard rounds.  Join us for a new challenge in a fun relaxed atmosphere!

Menu: Macaron in multiple flavors

What to Expect: Step in and start cooking! We’ll create these recipes together for hands-on learning and delicious fun. While some basic prep work may be done before class, students work in teams to complete each menu item.

Winchester Whipped: Competition 1
 

 

Join us for a fun evening as two local chefs battle and "chop" the competition.  Winchester Whipped is a community event benefiting the Fremont Street Nursery.  Two local chefs on two different nights will compete in a Chopped style competition with the winners battling to the bitter end in the third event.  Each chef will be required to create an appetizer and a dessert made with mystery basket ingredients and the Nibblins pantry items. 

As a viewer, you'll not only benefit a good cause but you'll also have the pleasure of samples, wine tastings, a good fun. 

Don't forget some extra cash or your checkbook.  We will raffle off a plate from each chef in both rounds for you to enjoy!

If The Choux Fits.....
 

 Class Description In this interactive demonstration class you will learn from Chef Shanna Avila and Dakota Tackels from Crumbs & Crumbles.  They will guide you through the process of making pate a choux, the dough used in delicious treats such as cream puffs and eclairs.  You will learn different mixing methods and how to bake them properly to achieve the hollow center and crisp outside.
