Taking Better Photographs

Do you wish you could make better photographs? Do your photos look ordinary, or like a postcard, only not quite as good? No matter what camera you have, this course will help you improve your photography skills by combining simple, basic concepts with practical experience. We will cover the dials and settings on your camera, what to look for in a scene that will make a great photograph, and how to position yourself to take that special image. Over five sessions, participants will submit images they have taken from selected venues. Bob will critique them, and along with the participant, chose a handful of ‘selects’ for presentation to the class on the last workshop session. Critiques of participants’ photos will involve discussion of what works and what doesn’t in specific images. Novices as well as those with photography experience are welcome. For the first class, bring your digital SLR, or ‘point-and-shoot’ camera, and the camera’s user manual. Be sure to charge your camera’s battery.
